I'm new in town and don't know anything.  I'm looking for a gym to join in the city.  Like, the kind of place where I could get a personal trainer (who maybe knows where to get protein powder).  Anyone know of anything like that?

check out the gym at Ulsan University. If Ray is still working there, he speaks great English and is a professional coach and personal trainer

Cool.

Do you think he'd help me buy protein powder?  I've been trying to get my hands on http://www.mass119.com/mart7/mall.php?cat=030036000&query=view&no=4292 and http://www.mass119.com/mart7/mall.php?cat=030033000&query=view&no=3268 , but they won't let me buy anything without a Korean ID number.

I'll check with the Mrs. tonight.  She could buy for you on her ID and you pay us cash.

I hate the Korean ID requirements (along with IE6) that nearly all e-commerce sites in Korea use

That would be pretty awesome.

I just got here and my co-workers don't yet know me well enough that I could ask them for that kind of favor.

You should try asking them - you'd be surprised how nice Koreans can be.  If they won't, send me a private email and I'll have my wife buy it and we'll get it to you somehow

I will try that.

Last time they (feigned?) ignorance of the idea of buying things over the internet.  It's possible they never heard of it before, or didn't understand what I'm talking about.  It's possible that I didn't explain it well.  And they did not understand.  Or, they might be trying to discourage me from bothering bothering them about this.

I will try again on Monday.
