Ulsan Online began its journey in 2007, founded by Fin Madden, who sought to create a comprehensive resource for foreigners living in Ulsan. Drawing inspiration from The Ulsan Pear, the first English newspaper created by expats in the city, Fin collaborated with other members of The Ulsan Pear to build what would become the staple source of information for expats in Ulsan.

In 2014, operations were passed to Jason Teale by Deirdre Madden, Fin’s older sister, who had been managing the site. Under Jason’s leadership, Ulsan Online has continued to grow and adapt to the ever-changing needs of the foreign community. The Facebook group alone has expanded from a modest 4,000 members to over 14,000 today.

Ulsan Online remains committed to helping foreigners navigate life in Ulsan, offering essential information and insights about the city. Beyond being a practical resource, the platform strives to bridge the gap between Koreans and foreigners, fostering understanding and connection within this diverse community.
